Going to miss this giant! Sad to see him go after living with him for the past 2 years. Good luck big… http://t.co/oaCf0vS6Wp

No official word from the Thunderbirds on how this decision came about but it would seem as though perhaps Wolf got caught up in the numbers game (as we suspected) and left either on his own or was released.
With the addition of Turner Ottenbreit and the return of Evan Wardley, Seattle has 7 healthy Defenders and would have had 8 once Shea Theodore returns from injury.
Wolf never could quite get his skating up to speed and that probably hurt him in the end. He seemed like a good kid and we wish him well.

absolute no brainer move by Seattle.. knew this would eventually happen. Surprised it took this long
Probably wanted to give him a fair shake at cracking the top six this season... Besides, there was no guarantee that Wardley (or even Theo) would return at the beginning of the season. I think the Wolf situation (much like the Henry situation) was decided once Wardley was returned.
Also as a reminder:
Though that only leaves 6 healthy defensemen on our roster, Luke Osterman was drafted as a defenseman so he can be used if there are any further injuries on the team.
From the press release when he was drafted:
The T-Birds selected defenseman Luke Osterman from Stillwater, Minnesota, with their second eighth round pick. Osterman is 6’2 and 170-pounds and played for the Stillwater Bantam team.
“Luke is a Minnesota defenseman with excellent potential,” said Farwell. “He is a good skater with high energy and the skill to provide offense from the back end.”
Or did he just change billets? Seems funny the team wouldn't have said something by now.
as for the above comment....
that's a good call hahah... weird there is no news anywhere or none of the Tbird bloggers have touched on it!
Thom talked with Russ and reported the following before the game on 1090:
He is a healthy scratch
He is not with the team
He is considered the 8th Defenseman once Theodore returns
They are trying to find a place for him to play
pretty much in a nutshell, waiting at home for a trade
Ummmm.... how weird is it that the Tbirds have two wins and they are both against Portland IN Portland......and Portland doesn't have a win after 6 games?!!!
Heh.. Yeah that is weird, isn't it? How weird, exactly? Well, maybe we need to ask that question to some of the 3-4,000 additional Portland fans who normally come out to the Moda Center.. They conveniently decided to skip this one. :P #ripcitybandwagon
Give them time, that Portland team is too talented to be this bad for very long. They might be looking for a goaltender though. I wonder if they would pay a decent fee to obtain Kozun? Not that I think Russ would do it but each of the last two seasons they have brought in a 20 year old goaltender because Burke wasn't ready. It looks like he may not be ready now simply because their current defense is horrible and he has only ever played on championship caliber teams. I wonder who else they might look at bringing in?
How exactly is Portland going to "bring in" more players? They have no draft choices to trade. and the young players on their current roster aren't the caliber of players they were bringing in over the past 4-5 years. So, not sure they have the trade value. There back end is terrible and Seattle showed last night you can shut down their forwards by making them have to play in their own end to help the defense. Portland minus Petan lost to a Seattle team minus Hickman and Theodore.
Bad night for Danny, especially the 5th goal, what is the future or this kid?
I didn't think he played poorly but I don't get the sense that he is a #1 goalie. Maybe it's an unfair evaluation, it was his first start of the year and he went up against the highest scoring team in the WHL.
I know that there are going to be all kinds of varying opinions.. But Mumaugh just doesn't seem to be a 'gamer'. He looked anything but poised on those early shots and was bested on 3 of the first 5 of them. Smith was behind the play on the first goal and left Danny out to dry, but the other 2 were on Mumaugh. As for that 5th goal, Kelowna was being given too many chances to catch a break like that. The goal was soft, but Kelowna was clearly winning the turnover battle at that point and cashed in.
I'll take a 1 and 1 record from that weekend. A healthy Hickman and Theodore and the Birds might have beat Kelowna.
What did everyone think about Ottenbreit? Seems like it could be a steal of a trade.
speaking of Theo... hurry up Anaheim and send him back!hahah.. I know hes still injured but should be ready to play soon
Looks like Wolf found a home

Personally, I am glad he found a place to play.
Thanks for the info. I too am happy that he can keep playing hockey. I respect all of these guys for pursuing their dream career. That being said, he was not good enough to play in the WHL. Hopefully he can find success in the AJHL.
Sooo we're gonna be a little short on the back end for awhile, between Wardley's inevitable suspension and Bear's boarding by Bjorkstrand.
Why does Wardel play on the edge like he does? It just hurts the team. Can't the coaching staff enforce him to back off?
The call announced in the arena was charging which didn't make sense since Petan had the puck at the time. The charge that showed up in the books was check to the head which makes more sense. Having said that, there isn't a player in the WHL that would not have taken that shot. The problem is Wardley is taller and stronger than Petan and hit him too high. He needs to keep low. If you watch the replay, it looks to me like he was on his skates at the time of the hit but contacted head or close to it. The league will take whatever actions it needs to and I'm okay with that but would like to see them make their explanations public so we can all understand the game better.
I would also like to know why the Portland player who jumped on top of Evan while he was down on the ice and started punching him only received a 2 minute roughing.
Finally, kudos to the Seattle fans sitting near us that had the stones to stand up and chant Portland Sucks in their house. I would normally call that poor manners, but since Portland kept showing a kid holding a Seattle Sucks sign on the big screen I applaud their courage.
Shopping Mumaugh?
I can't speak for everyone else, but I for one am absolutely hacked about the fact that the T-Birds are in a prime position to make a trade to improve their offense, but instead are forced to focus on trading for defense because of the careless actions of one player. #27 can pack his bags and leave whenever he wishes.

"I can't speak for everyone else"
Yea, you got that right.
