Kevin Wolf has signed a developmental deal with the Seattle
Thunderbirds. Wolf, 15, hails from Cuomo, MN and was drafted by the
Tbirds in the 10th round of the 2011 Bantam draft.
Wolf is a big kid
standing 6'4" and weighing
in at 180 lbs. at the time he was drafted (he might be bigger now). He attended
rookie camp and training camp in August where his skating ability proved to be very impressive for a 15 year old,
especially one of his size.
This is a quality signing for the Birds. These are the types of kids that you hope to hit on occasionally to augment your draft classes.

Wouldn't"t really be augmenting the draft class since he was part of our draft but I agree that this is a quality signing. What a defensive group the team could have in a few years with Theodore, Hauf, Green, Wolf, Smith and maybe Zach Douglas.
Yeah maybe a poor choice of words there. What I mean is... normally you don't expect 10th round selections to pan out.
No post for tonights game...sorry, Tyler, you are busy but most reliable source for blogging the games...but Cotton has shown that he is just as capable as our all-star goalie. The kid kept it close regardless of the 14 shots the Thunderbirds put on net. We can't blame the goalie on this lost...14 shots! The team has given up. Unfortunately, the coach put Cotton in this no-win situation....I am now questioning his decisions. Have the all-star Pickard lose another one or put in the backup. Great plan if the offense was working but it is not. At least we can say a goalie wasn't pulled tonight. Glass half full...oh, Pickard is still over rated. If Cotton could come in against one of the best teams in the league and limit the goals to 5 then it should show that the team, capitans, are not producing. Enough is enough...light a fire under these kids butts.
There are a bunch, not a one, not a few, but a bunch of players on this team that I call "skate around players" because that is all they do is skate around, nothing of significance to point to in their play. Alos, Elliot, Lund, Luke,Sanvido, Rouse,Doty, we need more out of these players in their play, they are 18 to 19 year olds and you have to get production out of those key players.
I have to disagree with the above comment only on the subject of one player, that would be Rouse. I really feel that this guy is going to get it going and be a great player as the season goes on. Chance Lund played a HUGE role in the early games but lately not so much. Doty and Elliot are the worst. Two players that can't score whatsoever but rack up the penalty minutes?! Talk about useless.
I agree there is some lack of effort/hussle but I don't agree with the list of players above or that for any of them it is EVERY game. I have seen effort from every player at some time and Chance is showing huge effort night after night. Rouse as well, who was bumped down to a lower line and continued to show effort. I see a difference in Elliot and Doty. Elliot shows flashes of potential and seems to fight at "smart" times or when someone else goes after him, Doty on the other hand, often seems consumed with finding someone to go with him. But even with Doty I have seen more focus on playing hockey in the last few games.
The way I see it is that they won they games they "should have" on the road, which is a plus. This coach is just 7 weeks into his first season and I see progress.....fits and starts yes, but progress. I just hope to see some more home ice wins.
Sorry but Rouse is not going to be a "great player" just because he had a few points on this road trip does not make him a great player. What "flashes" do you see from Elliot???? He should be grinding in front of the net getting those workman like goals and he never is there, at 6-5 you got to use your strengths and he does not do that.As for Lund yeah he started great but where has he been the last 3 to 4 weeks?
Rouse - I think he is a solid player for this league, will he have a pro career? Probably not. Elliot - did you see his goal on Friday? That is what I mean about flashes. I see progress and you are right, he should be in front of the net. It seems to me that maybe he is just now being coached. Lund - again did you see Friday's game? Just my opinion

I am going to both games this weekend, I am going to concentrate on both Rouse and Elliot and try to open my mind up a bit, believe me, I hope I am wrong and you are right in this case.
