Seattle played just well enough to sneak by Portland 4-3.
I still think the Tbirds played uninspired for the most part... but the important thing is that they picked up 2 points and moved into 5th place in conference.
Currently they are tied for 5th with Kamloops with 62 points but also have a game in hand on the Blazers.
Seattle got a big night from Jonathan Parker who tallied 2 goals and 2 assists including the Power Play game winner with just over a minute to play in the game. Greg Scott also added 2 goals and an assist and Prab Rai had two assists.
It was a sloppy game for the most part but I thought Seattle did a nice job of just getting pucks to the front of the net on Portland goaltender Kurtis Mucha and sending multiple guys to crash for rebounds which is exactly how the 2nd and 3rd goals were scored.
Calvin Pickard wasn't as solid tonight as he was the previous night but also didn't get as much help from his defense in clearing rebounds as he did on Friday night at home.
Seattle returns home tomorrow night with a chance to sweep the weekend and start to get a little traction on that 5th place spot. To do it... they will have to beat the Vancouver Giants again who actually have been struggling a bit lately and needed overtime to beat the Kamloops Blazers tonight. Vancouver is "only" 7-2-1 now in their last 10 games and I believe will still be without star defensemen Jon Blum.
